Oregon Driver Education Center based out of Salem, Oregon has become the master licensee for Oregon of the DriveABLE Assessment System, one of the world’s only scientifically validated technologies for determining fitness to drive in cognitively at-risk drivers.
DriveABLE Assessment Centres Inc. has signed an agreement with Oregon Driver Education Center to use and distribute their technologies designed to assess fitness to drive in cognitively impaired drivers throughout the state.
With the increasing prevalence of medical conditions causing cognitive impairment, healthcare professionals, licensing authorities and concerned family members are coming under increased pressure to ensure that drivers with these conditions are safe to drive. Dr. Allen Dobbs, President and CEO of DriveABLE Assessment Centers Inc. was asked to address these concerns as the Director of Research for the Edmonton General Hospital in Edmonton, Canada and after an extensive University research study, developed an In-Office and On-Road test to assess driving ability in cognitively at-risk drivers.
“Oregon Driver Education Center was a natural choice to become the master licensee for us in the State of Oregon,” said Dr. Dobbs, “they are already clearly involved in a number of programs to identify and train safe drivers and improve road safety within Oregon, which is of primary concern to our company.”
The first certified In-Office assessors in the state have been trained at Northwest Rehabilitation Associates Inc., a well-known and respected evaluation and rehabilitation company in the area. On-Road evaluations will be administered by ODEC.
